What is an Alpha Male?
The term ‘alpha male’ is used to describe the leader of the pack in animals like wolves. In human terms an alpha is a man who has inner strength and confidence, who believes in himself and his own abilities, who is a true leader (and looks and acts like one). An alpha is not needy, desperate or overly focused on attracting women. An alpha attracts people simply by being himself.
How Can You Become an Alpha Male?
Becoming an alpha male may take some hard work on your part, but it is well worth it. You will see changes in all aspects of your life, from friendships to dating to professional relationships. The following tips will help you get started:
- Be confident. Confident people think highly of themselves and believe in their own capabilities. There is a very distinct difference between arrogance and confidence and you should be careful not to become arrogant. Arrogance is a sign of insecurity, no of confidence.
- Learn how to carry yourself like a leader. If you enter a room like an alpha, people will automatically be drawn to you.
- Learn how to use humour without acting like a clown, seeming spiteful or coming across as overly sarcastic. Humour is a great way to show your intelligence and wit, but turning nasty will make you look arrogant and insecure.
- Learn how to control your body language. Using your body language in a positive way will convey your strength and confidence to those around you without you having to say a word. Focus on how you stand, where you look, and how you hold your hands. There are certain nonverbal cues that leaders instinctively use and that followers respond to. For example, hand held behind your back shows confidence and power. You are willing to open yourself and are not crossing your arms to shield your chest. Similarly, making eye contact is crucial to keeping your audience’s attention.
- Learn how to really listen. The true alpha spends more time listening than talking. People will respond to you if you listen attentively and show that you are taking in what they are saying. Don’t judge people if they open up to you. This will break their trust in you.
- Watch other alphas and learn from them. Take the time to chat to them, watch how they hold themselves, how they move, and how they talk to others.
